Uncertainty affects practically all aspects of wind turbine design and operations. Its presence means taking costly additional precautions such as introducing extra safety in the design, or accepting higher risk of unexpected loss of assets or revenue.
This mini symposium invites presentations discussing novel methodologies for understanding, quantifying and reducing the impact of uncertainty in the entire wind energy domain. This includes but is not limited to topics such as:
- Uncertainty quantification and propagation,
- Optimization of design or operations through incorporating uncertainty information (including Reliability-Based Design Optimization, RBDO)
- Risk assessment and mitigation
- Decision making under uncertainty
- Probabilistic cost modelling and impact assessment
